Under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Steinberg, a team of surgeons at Saint Francis is now using the da Vinci® S™ Surgical System to perform minimally invasive prostatectomies, hysterectomies, and heart surgery. Among the cardiac procedures now being conducted are mitral valve repair, atrial septal defects (ASD) and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
The da Vinci system provides breakthrough capabilities that enable surgeons to perform complex procedures with greater precision through tiny incisions. Through robotic-assisted visualization, dexterity, precision and control, a surgeon can now perform a wide array of surgical procedures through 1-2 cm incisions while, at the same time, achieving greater clinical outcomes.
