Connecticut CyberKnife Center at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center

"Untreatable" and "inoperable" tumors are terms of the past, thanks to robotic surgery here today at the Connecticut CyberKnife Center at Saint Francis.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center was the first to offer the CyberKnife® stereotactic radiosurgery system in Connecticut, making our team of highly-skilled physicians the most experienced in the state.

CyberKnife is the world's most accurate, real-time, full-body radiosurgery system, employing image-guided robotics to deliver focused radiation to painlessly eradicate tumors and lesions with sub-millimeter precision.

On May 15, 2006, the first Saint Francis Hospital patient was treated with CyberKnife technology. In the Center’s first two years of operation, over 250 patients have received CyberKnife treatments at our recently expanded facility.

Since the CyberKnife Center’s opening, our physicians have continued to maximize this breakthrough technology through advanced treatments delivered by specially trained teams of physicians and support staff.

Now Offering Prostate Treatments

Treatment of the prostate is the latest procedure to be introduced at our CyberKnife Center.

The diagnosis of prostate cancer can be devastating to men. Traditional treatments have left many men with life-long side effects.

Through the advantages of CyberKnife treatments, patients can experience reduced side effects, thanks to the system’s ability to deliver high doses of radiation with precise accuracy. Since CyberKnife treatments are also non-invasive, patients lessen their chances of side effects associated with conventional surgical methods used to treat prostate cancer, including sexual dysfunction or incontinence.

“CyberKnife treatments for prostate cancer are a great addition to the array of procedures we currently perform at Saint Francis using this breakthrough technology. The CyberKnife can maximize radiation dosages to the prostate gland with minimal effects to surrounding tissues and organs. It may be the best chance of retaining sexual function for men. It truly is revolutionary surgery.”
