Both runners and walkers turned out to complete this 5K (3.4 mile course) Race through Elizabeth Park, in honor of Kate Kuhn Woodbury, M.D. Kate was an anesthesiologist at Saint Francis and passed away in 1996 at the age of 35 from ovarian cancer. In addition to being a compassionate physician, Kate was a loving and devoted daughter, mother and wife, an avid runner and skier and simply a person who truly embodied the spirit of life. Kate’s father also passed away in 2005 of cancer.
The Fun Run was established by a group of Kate’s friends and colleagues to recognize her love of running and to raise funds for cancer related causes. The run was sponsored by the Anesthesiology Department at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
