Statement:
Dr. Phaniraj Iyengar is the Medical Director for the Stroke Center at Saint Francis. Prior to joining Saint Francis, he served as the Director of the North Valley Stroke Center at North Valley Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Sacramento and Roseville, California.
Dr. Iyengar’s training included a one-year compulsory rotating internship, followed by training in surgery and neurosurgery in India and then in the United Kingdom, before moving to the United States in 1995. Dr. Iyengar then served an internship at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, New Haven, and a two-year preliminary surgical residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New Hyde Park, N.Y. He also completed a neurology residency at the University of California Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California, followed by a one-year fellowship in neurovascular and stroke medicine at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Saint Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix.
Dr. Iyengar is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Stroke Association, American Society of Neuroimaging, American Headache Society, American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Association of Physicians of India.
